As author Linda Wooten described, "being a mother is learning about strengths you didn't know you had... and dealing with fears you didn't know existed", and that's exactly what Baby Bloom is all about; they're here to offer support, education, and a comfortable space to new mothers (and fathers) as they adjust to a new nurturing adventure: parenthood! In honor of Mothers Day (congrats to all the momma's reading this), we interviewed Tyler Lucchese, Founder & Newborn Care Specialist at Baby Bloom, and she told us all about how she uses social media marketing to grow her business & connect with momma's all around the world!
Q: What is your business all about and who is your audience?
A: We provide overnight newborn care and education to families during the first few months of their baby's life. As a new mother, navigating life with a newborn can be tough. With practical support, evidence-based education, and tender loving care, the transition could in fact- be smooth and easy. (Yes, even with a newborn!) Our offerings are Baby Planning Virtual Childbirth, Newborn Care, and Lactation Classes Overnight Newborn Care Infant Sleep Consulting. One of our most popular offerings is Overnight Newborn Care. While working overnight, your Newborn Care Specialist will tend to all of your baby's needs, allowing you to get your rest to properly recover and be the best mom she could be in the morning. Our audience includes expectant and new mothers, parents, and even grandparents (who want to get in on all of the education, too!)
Q: What kind of content does your business share on social media, and why?
A: Newborn tips: How to properly care for your baby Quotes: That applies to motherhood, birth, and breastfeeding. Photos of stigmatized things: To show the realness that comes with life with a newborn. My strategy is to basically normalize the concept that motherhood looks messy. If someone says it doesn't, they're lying to you. :-)
Q: Tell us a bit more about you! How did you get involved with this business?
A: Baby Bloom was created out of my love for newborns, and deep compassion for the moms who should be nurtured just as much. I've had the privilege of working with young children and their families for 12 years (and counting!). I earned my degree in Early Childhood Education and spent years working as a teacher, also working with children with special needs. While I adored the role of teaching littles over the years, I developed a profound passion for the partnerships she formed with their parents. Creating a non-judgemental and supportive “safe space” was my specialty and that eventually led to my work with newly-born mothers. In 2015, I completed newborn care training then became a Certified Lactation Counselor and embarked on my journey working privately with newborns and their families. Since then, I have traveled across the country working with singleton, twins, preemies, high profile families, babies with reflux, colic, and more. I quickly discovered the immense value of newborn and postpartum support when bringing a precious, new life into the world. With practical support, evidence-based education, and a non-judgmental approach, I aim not only to relieve parents of stress but to empower them as they step into their new role.
Q: What's your favorite social media platform for your business, and why?
A: Instagram - I tend to use Instagram as a journal of my work with newborns + families. I tend to post raw and real questions about life, birth, and parenting. Sometimes I incorporate some of my perspectives gained while working with children with special needs. I just love how you can pair a current thought with a profound picture. It allows for a deeper connection with my audience and the families I serve.
Q: When did you start using social media for your business? How did it happen and why?
A: From the very beginning. It happened because I want to be able to make a statement in all ways, on all different platforms, and different audiences.
Q: Overall, how has social media helped your business?
A: I think social media has allowed me to break stigmas and promote normalization of the raw pieces of motherhood, birth, and parenting. It's helped with the promotion of my virtual newborn care courses.
Q: How has social media helped you build a brand and an identity for your business?
A: I think social media has truly allowed me to be me... to represent motherhood as real and true as it actually is. Some words I would use to describe my brand identity would be: unfiltered, kind, compassionate, nurturing, realistic... with a pinch of sarcastic :-)
Q: How do you use social media to connect with your audience?
A: I use social media to create a statement or tell a story that connects with my business. It ultimately allows for connections to be made and for my audience to see me, who I am, and what my mission is.
Q: Do you use social media for customer service? If so, how?
A: Absolutely! If there is a particular topic or baby item I feel strongly about, I will mention it on my page and describe how to use it or how to troubleshoot through a common problem.
Q: What kind of tools or apps do you use for your social media management and/or content creation?
A: Canva - it's a lifesaver! Also Linktree
Q: In your opinion, what is the biggest social media marketing mistake that uprising businesses and entrepreneurs should avoid?
A: Going in hard with paid advertisements. You want your consumers to choose you for YOU. Not for your prices or graphic design. It's tricky but there should be a unique blend of different modalities that bring your ideal clientele to you because they know they want you... and only you.
Q: In your opinion, why is social media marketing a valuable investment for uprising businesses & entrepreneurs?
A: Gotta stay with the times, sister! Most, if not all, of my clientele, are on social media platforms. This is the biggest way we, as consumers, learn what is new, popular, and valuable.
Q: Do you have any social media marketing tips or content creation tips for rising small business owners and creative entrepreneurs hoping to use social media to grow their business?
A: Download Canva...now! Also try to always be true to your mission and who you are. People will gravitate towards you because of that.
